Africa is still one of the natural wonders of the world. It's where the rules of life were written, where mankind first set foot and where an amazing array of life began.

But this episode tells another story of Africa.

The wildlife of this continent has seen more changes in the past 50 years than it has in the last two million. Today's animals are facing unprecedented challenges, while around them Africa's human population is growing at nearly double the global rate.

So what role does wildlife play in the new Africa and what is the likely outcome for the continent we have grown to love?

Africa is witnessing a new age of scientists and naturalists who are discovering new ways of fighting to save the wildlife and wild places, and by doing so are holding the key to Africa's wild future. This film walks alongside the animals, and meets the heroes and guardians who are passionate about protecting and nurturing their environment.
